Friends
One of my first lessons of love was being able to be a friend first.  I have found that when two people have gotten to know each other, not sexually, that they develop trust and friendship.  I know it is a bit old fashioned, but I personally cannot love something I do not know about.  Being a friend does not have to lead to sex.  It is perfectly acceptable for a man and a woman to be friends and keep it on a friend level.  NO FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS.  I am not sure where this little phrase came from, but having a friend with benefits deal can be a messy deal, especially if the female friend gets pregnant.    It is important for all of us to have someone we can call friend.  Sometimes good friendship can lead to good marriages that are long lasting and eternal.  One thing I try to remember is that Jesus is a friend of mine and He sticks closer to me than any brother would ever stick to me.
The dictionary gives this definition of what a friend is:
a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. (Married couples)
a person who gives assistance; patronsupporter: friends of the Boston Symphony.
a person who is on good terms with another; a person who isnot hostile:
a member of the same nation, party, etc.
